My Project

The ability to read is one of the best gifts we can give children. In my second grade classroom we have been working all year to grow as readers and improve our reading skills. My students are eager to learn and love exploring new stories. We want to continue to explore and reach new goals! In my second grade classroom we love our small group time and are working hard to become great readers. My students love hands-on activities and these manipulatives will allow them to continue to practice the skills we are learning in our classroom.

In my classroom one of the ways we are working on improving our reading skills is through small group time.

During small groups students work on skills with me and independently. I would love for my students to have new materials that will be engaging and give them more options for hands-on learning. These titles are engaging and will be great for fluency, comprehension and discussions. The new manipulatives (comprehension cubes, reading rods, word mapping paddles) will allow students to use a hands-on approach to learning skills we have been working on this year. This project will help me to achieve that goal.
