Ms. Ellis from Stockton CA is requesting art supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need cushions to sit on in our reading nook for their read with a partner rotation during centers. We also need construction paper for our art projects.

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, they come to school excited to be there and happy to learn!
My students love to sing, dance, and experience learning through touch.
Many of my students have touching stories that they share; from being separated from their twin, being raised by grandparents, or even in foster care. Many of my students receive free or reduced lunch. There are many things going on in their home life that children should not have to deal with, but when they come to my classroom I want them to feel safe and loved. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. I hope to fill their lives with positivity, and help them understand that school is a place that holds great joy.
My goal is to provide time for literacy rotations in our daily schedule. As one of our rotations I would like to include read with a partner. I have a small corner of our classroom that would make an excellent nook. There is only one thing missing... cushions for the children to sit on. That's where you come in! With your help I can provide my students with a fun and comfortable place to read.
I want my students to be excited about reading, and I would love to incorporate art into our curriculum.
In order to do art in our class we need color construction paper. With your help we can create monthly art projects that match the theme of what we are learning that month.
