My students need magnet tiles for daily use and to continue to build their problem solving skills! Magnet tiles are open-ended and full of learning opportunities!

My Students

I love teaching in Ferndale! We are a district full of diversity in a connected community. My classroom is a Transitional Kindergarten known as First Fives. My students are blessed with the gift of time and have a bonus year to develop their social/emotional, fine-motor, gross-motor, and academic skills needed in Kindergarten. Students enter my classroom as four- and five-year-olds and leave as leaders who are ready to rock Kindergarten.

By creating a hands-on learning approach I am hoping to inspire our young learners to continue on a path of their love for learning.

First Fives is a gift of time that will continue to give throughout their educational career.

My Project

Magnet tiles would allow for my students to take on a whole new way to build! Not only do they have to be engineers to think of a design but they will need to problem solve in order to make the magnets stay together! When students build with magnetic tiles it requires their fine and gross motor skills and it promotes their science and math skills. We spend a lot of time learning about 2D & 3D shapes. We also have magnetic areas all around our room for the students to further explore and magnet wands to provide extended learning opportunities!

The Magnet tiles will be stored in our block area which is a busy area full of builders and problem solvers.

Not only do students problem solve while being creative they problem solve with one another. The block area is full of social-emotional growth.
