Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help me give my students a fun, welcoming Harvest Festival experience where every child and family feels included, celebrated, and connected to our school community! Our K–2 resource students receive additional academic, communication, social-emotional, and behavioral support. They work hard every day to learn new skills, build confidence, and grow as learners. They also deserve opportunities to simply be children, have fun, connect with others, and create happy memories at school.

Our school is currently preparing for our annual Harvest Festival, and we would love to create a special experience for our resource students and their families.

We are requesting a Polaroid camera and film, a fall-themed backdrop, and balloons for balloon animals. The Polaroid camera will allow students and families to capture special moments together and take home a photograph as a keepsake. The backdrop will create a festive space for families to celebrate together, while balloons will give students opportunities to make choices, communicate their preferences, practice taking turns, and interact with others.

For our resource students, inclusion means more than simply being present. It means having meaningful opportunities to participate, connect, make choices, and feel successful. School celebrations can sometimes feel overwhelming, so creating welcoming activities where students can participate at their own comfort level can make the experience more positive and enjoyable.

These simple materials will create opportunities for communication, independence, social interaction, family connection, and confidence. A photograph may seem like a small thing, but it can become a treasured family memory and a reminder that every student belongs.

With your support, we can create a joyful Harvest Festival filled with smiles, laughter, family connections, and memories our students can take home and treasure. Thank you for helping us celebrate our students and show them that everyone belongs!
