Making Math Notes Meaningful With Organization and Pizzaz!
My students need binders to house all of their notes and keep in the room. They need washable glue caps, for gluing foldables onto their notes, as well as multi-pens to organize their notes step-by-step.
I teach in a public school in the Twin Cities, the metro area of Minnesota. Our building was built in 1963, it is overcrowded and houses nearly one-thousand 7th and 8th graders. The 170 students that walk in my classroom are excited to learn, energetic, and incredibly creative. I teach students who have a constant dedication and willingness to succeed is a direct reflection of their top performing grades and successes.
My students come to school every day with an eagerness to learn because they are aware of the value of education, they persevere through the hardships of their home life and continue to impress me, and visitors to our class, every day.
They are aware that through hard work comes great success. I couldn’t be more proud of the work and effort I see them give to our math lessons everyday.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students will help give a "home" to all the hand written notes we interact with every day. In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything organized!
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in mathematics.
My students have been working very hard to learn HOW to take math notes in my classroom. We write them, interact with them, return to them, revise them. We need a place to store all of our notes for the year. These binders will not only help my students learn valuable lessons in the organization but also have a safe place for students to keep study material when often there is not a safe place at home.
We need the pens, to help organize our notes step by step with color. We need the glue caps, to keep our supply caddies clean, and the glue for manipulating notes, activities, and projects which help us have a deeper understanding of the content.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand, and not whether their materials are going to get lost or not. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with hand-written/paper notes will increase their math-literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the mathematics in real life!
