Help me give my students the chance to "show" their work! An Ipad is the closest tool to a smartboard in the classroom and would allow the teacher and students to work on math assignments collaboratively.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As I reflect on this school year, and begin planning for next year it seems remote learning will continue in some capacity. Many homes and schools lack the technology required to make this transition easy. After teaching math to students with special needs these last 4 months, I am more aware of apps and resources that can be used through remote learning.
My students and I have embarked on the distance learning journey!
We are using all sorts of different online platforms and learning new things. However, some of the devices that students are using do not let them have access to the current up to date math applications. Using I-Pads in the classroom and at home will allow students to "show their work" to me while learning new whole number, decimal and fraction concepts. I am amazed by their level of engagement and participation, and willingness to try new things.
My Project
The NYC Department of Education has provided some of my students with I-PADs for remote learning- however, I am still using a laptop. With an I-PAD, I would be able to work with students remotely on math concepts and problems.
This is as close to a chalkboard/whiteboard we can get while learning remotely.
It has been a challenge to "draw" out fractions or "show" the steps to solving a problem through a computer screen. The I-Pad would allow for realtime, step by step live lessons that I could present to my students with special needs.
