As a special education math teacher, I have found that my students with disabilities benefit when they are provided with manipulative during the lesson. Manipulatives allow students to construct their own cognitive models for abstract mathematical ideas and processes. They also allow my students to express their thinking through visual representations. The global economy requires students to have strong analytical skills to compete in college and beyond. Improving STEM skills and creating inventive thinkers will help my students get college and career ready. Please help me create these hands on and fun Math and STEM lessons for my students so that they may be able to practice and master skills while working collaboratively.
