My Project
Lakeshore Base 10 Hands On Kits will make a great difference as my second grade students begin ungrouping and regrouping. Many students struggle as we dive into subtraction and addition with double and triple digits. They see examples on the whiteboard and practice drawing quick hundreds, tens, and ones, but some still struggle to understand the concepts. These hands on kits will allow students to physically practice ungrouping and regrouping to solidify this tricky concept. My goal is for each student to become proficient with this skill by working in pairs as well as by themselves. This process will ensure that they have a solid foundation that will help them as they progress to more difficult math concepts. Combining the hands on kits with Math is Categorical books will engage students making math a more memorable experience.
