Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Changes are coming to our school next year, and I want to ensure our students have the best possible learning experience. I will be welcoming a larger class, about 32 students, into a single classroom. In addition to this, I will be transitioning into a self-contained teaching model, which means I will now be teaching all core subjects, including math.

Math manipulatives don’t just support academic growth; they help build confidence and spark joy in learning.

Many of our students struggle to stay engaged and fully understand important math concepts such as multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals. Having math manipulatives can ease their learning and enhance engagement. These foundational skills are often difficult for students to grasp through traditional instruction alone. That’s why it will be more important than ever to have access to math manipulatives and hands-on materials.

With your support, we can introduce meaningful tools like place value blocks, number lines, fraction tiles, and math games that will help make these abstract concepts more concrete. These resources will allow me to plan for whole-group lessons, focused small-group instruction, and self-paced learning centers that meet the needs of every student in the room.
