it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our Title I special education classroom, students thrive with hands-on, visual learning strategies—especially when it comes to math. Many of my students struggle with abstract concepts and benefit greatly from concrete tools that help them visualize and physically engage with numbers. To support their growth and confidence in math, we need essential materials that will make learning accessible and meaningful.
Every child deserves the tools to understand math in a way that works for them, and your support makes that possible.
A comprehensive math manipulatives kit will allow students to explore number sense, place value, operations, and measurement in a tangible, engaging way. Having access to a classroom set of basic calculators will support computation, problem-solving, and independence, particularly for students working on multi-step problems or those with accommodations. To keep our materials accessible and organized, we also need sturdy bookshelves. These shelves will store manipulatives, math journals, and center activities in a way that promotes independence and reduces visual clutter—a key support for students with learning and attention differences. These resources will not only enhance math instruction but also build students’ confidence and autonomy.
In our Title I setting, students often face both academic and economic challenges. They deserve a classroom filled with tools that meet them where they are, supporting their strengths and addressing their needs. Math is an area where many of our students feel defeated; with your help, we can turn that around through hands-on learning and an organized, supportive environment.
