This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is located in the heart of Atlanta which brings about challenges for many of our students but despite the daily challenges they face, show up ready and willing to learn every day.
My students are loving, inquisitive and enjoy being exposed to diverse, challenging and engaging content and are of course full of questions!
They thrive best in environments that are bright, fun and intentionally created to represent their interests, passions and future goals. They also enjoy activities that are hands on and allow for collaboration.
Watching the pride they have in themselves as they gain new knowledge and skills brings me joy because I know this is one small step being taken toward unlocking endless opportunities!
My Project
Math can sometimes be a very difficult subject for students to grasp as I know all to well since I was one of those students. Providing students with an array of math manipulatives and games will make math concepts engaging, fun, and interactive. It will also allow them to see numbers in a variety of ways which will in turn appeal to the many learning styles of my students thereby allowing them to grasp, retain and understand math concepts easily.
It is my goal to ensure that all of my students become experts in math and continue to build on that foundation throughout their academic careers and beyond!
