My Students

Hi! I teach an Integrated Pre-K Classroom. This means that half of my students are general education students and the other half have an IEP (individualized education plan). They receive some sort of service, like Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or Special Education services. They could also have a combination of these services. BUT... you would never be able to tell.

All of my students do their best in my class, we embrace mistakes and try again.

My students know that best for one kid may look different than best for another student. Although some of my students might struggle with speech, or fine motor skill, it does not mean that they are less in anyway. This is a huge part of my classroom philosophy. Some people are better at things than others. It takes practice and hard work to get to that point. My kids are some of the hardest workers I know, because they are appreciate and applause for doing THEIR best.

My Project

In Pre-k, hands-on learning is the best way to learn. By using manipulatives, that look like toys, the students will be learning all while playing. Learning math through meaningful play. Not only will these math manipulative help my students learn to sort and categorize, it will also help improve language skills too. By exploring the "toys" they will start to learn about the world around them. Like items that go together.
