Making Math Fun With Stories and Manipulatives

My Project

My students are working on a variety of math skills from addition and subtraction to multiplication and division. The variety of books will give all my students relevant and engaging math mysteries to solve.

The abstract concept of regrouping will be made more concrete with the use of Digi-Blocks.

The Digi-Blocks will help my students understand regrouping when solving addition and subtraction problems by allowing them to concretely bundle and unbundle groups of ten. We can also use the Digi-Blocks to make equal groups and divide groups to practice beginning multiplication and division skills.

The Sum blocks will help my students see numbers in a concrete way through building. They will be used to identify the similarities and differences in groups of numbers when exploring addition, subtraction, multiplication and division concepts.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
