Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students from Las Vegas need more supplies for activities since we are a title 1 school and we often don't receive much funding. This will allow me to help students from all cultures, areas, and various incomes an opportunity to learn and thrive within the district. They love learning when we do fun activities and applications to math. Lots of my students have challenging home lives and don't have money for school supplies.
I will use the white boards for group work to help enrich student learning.
I need some whiteboards for round robin and other activities to help promote discussion and thinking about math in groups. I want each student to have a binder designated for them in my class, where they can keep their papers so they don't get lost.
My Project
We will use the white boards and dry erase markers in solving math problems using procedures of round robin or numbered heads together. We will use the pencils everyday in class, there are so many students who do not have pencils when they come to class. We will use highlighters to mark things to make lessons more engaging! We will use the binders so that students will have a place to put their papers, they are always losing their papers. I want to make a place in my classroom where students can store their binders so that they don't restart their papers every time they lose them. 80% of my students cannot afford to bring in binders. When students have crinkled papers or are missing their papers, I often asked if they need a folder and will give them one to keep their papers, but something needs to change.
If ever a student needs any supplies taken home because they are sick, they are always welcome to ask.
