This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach ninth grade science to 14 year olds who come from different backgrounds. As a low-income, urban, neighborhood school my students arrive with a diverse set of backgrounds. A successful Freshman year is the strongest predictor of future success and my goal is to help my students successfully navigate ninth grade earth and space science.

What makes my students so amazing is that they ask great scientific questions about the world around them!

My Project

We are so excited to returning to in person learning! While we have learned a lot about technology and online learning in the last year, students still love hands on manipulatives to guide their learning.

When students are able to physically move materials, they are more engaged in the lesson.

A laminator and paper cutter would enable me to create durable and long lasting manipulatives for our science classroom. With these supplies I could create less classroom waste because the manipulatives would be longer lasting.

Additionally, I am requesting some basic classroom supplies that will help create an organized classroom, such as a turn in bins and a place to store our dry erase markers.
