My Students

The kindergartners in Room 210 are excited for the year ahead and eager to learn! We're located in a gentrifying urban neighborhood where many of my families are finding it hard to make ends meet. A supportive and warm school environment is essential for helping our kiddos learn and even more essential for making all families--especially those experiencing hardship--feel welcome. In Room 210, we inspire creativity and curiosity in kindergartners by offering hands-on, culturally relevant projects--but resources for those projects are already running low and it's only November. Our students are energetic, thoughtful, inquisitive, kind, and ready to take on the world. We want to be sure they have all they need to do just that. That's why teachers have gone above and beyond to donate their own supplies and weekend time to be sure all students can benefit from project-based learning. Whether it's creating 3D self portraits to adorn our community agreements or drawing illustrations for storybooks, the students of Room 210 should all have access to the materials that help harness their creativity and love for learning now and in the future.

My Project

Kindergartners learn best through hands on experiences. With many kids in a classroom, creating supplies for each students to use for literacy, math, science, and more takes a lot of resources and time. The Cricut

machine will make it possible for all students to have the supplies they need for experiential, fun, and impactful lessons despite strains on existing resources and staff capacity.

It will help make our learning environment vibrant, warm, and welcoming for all students and families. We'll be able to quickly cut out shapes, objects, numbers, letters, and more so lessons can be relevant and personalized to students' interests.
