Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I will be using this project to better support my students in learning foundational reading skills through various online platforms and adaptive technologies. When using a touch screen, my students can more easily navigate programs and embrace their autonomous learning. Students are able to better connect with educational material when they do not struggle to use a mouse or toggle a keyboard.

My students all have a learning disability and adaptive technology is the cornerstone of education equity.

My students tend to struggle with unlocking the reading code and can be further demoralized when older technology impedes their progress. However, I have found that when learning is fun and engaging they are able to learn more quickly. The use of touchscreen opens learning to also be kinesthetic, which also creates another entry point to garnering new learning.

This project will help my students to become more engaged readers and build their self-esteem.
