My students need iPads in order to access technological resources for their learning of literacy, science, and mathematics with developmentally appropriate devices.
My students are from a large, urban community that welcomes families from all over the globe. They bring a special blend of linguistic diversity, background knowledge, prior experiences and culture to our school. We are a Title I school in a low-income community, and I have 28 students in my class. Free breakfast and free lunch is available to every child in our building each day. I grew up in this city, and I truly believe I am meant to teach here and give back all I can to my hometown.
My school is a magical place.
Despite the challenging home lives of many, my students walk in the door of our quaint little building, and are welcomed with heartfelt greetings and genuine smiles, and they are ready to be the best they can be. Our staff provides specific academic, emotional, and behavioral support to students to meet their specific needs to they can reach their personal potential. I am blessed to witness incredible student growth during each school year, a result of the dedication of my colleagues and hard work of our students.
My Project
iPads in my classroom will be life-changing! My students will be able to access apps and programs across the curriculum to bring learning to life, stay engaged, and meet with success. I am working to create an iPad center for use during my literacy block, guided math workshop, and science centers!
There are many incredible programs out there, but with only two dinosaur desktop computers for my 28 students to share, we cannot benefit from any of them!
I want my students to be digital superstars. Their world is full of devices - help me teach them how to use these devices to grow their brains.
