We are launching Guided Math Workshop in every classroom at my school in September. Teachers are inspired, but it will take time and lots of effort to get their classrooms ready. Teachers have many high-quality resources, but these lessons and activities need a massive makeover! The plastic storage bins will allow teachers to reorganize materials by math standard and to have activities at their fingertips to help students with every possible need. Laminating sheets and page protectors will be used to teachers can make math workshop activities that can be used again and again, reducing waste and prep time. White board markers are a MUST in the Guided Math Workshop classroom so teachers can frequently formatively assess student understanding and adjust instruction accordingly. And, dry erase markers last about as long as pencils and glue sticks - I swear kids eat them! Math teaching and learning is undergoing a beautiful transformation at my school, allowing for more targeted math instruction, engaging practice activities, and student choices about their path to understanding. Please help my teachers get organized , enthused, and inspired to use this new, research-based math classroom structure! When we have the materials we need, we can focus on students' understanding and success!
