I teach 8th grade language arts in a suburban, quickly expanding area outside of a city. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and education levels.
How important is planet earth? Some students know the answer but don't understand the impact of what would happen if we lost our planet. This novel "Green Book" describes one family's journey as they have to leave a destroyed planet Earth and search space to find an inhabitable planet.
Not only will my students experience a science fiction novel, they will contemplate all the reasons we need to keep this planet healthy and the consequences if we don't.
Your sponsorship of this project allows my students to begin a path of thought about their impact on the environment. Planting this little seed now will hopefully create adults who are not only literate but also concerned about the world we live in.
