Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our Ballet Folklorico Diamante is a relative new program in our school. Our students are eager to participate in competitions and learn about Mexican culture and the beautiful dances from each region.
My students come from the Mission, McAllen, and Alton area and are 9th and 10th graders.
They have worked really hard for this year with the hope of being able to attend a spring competition. All of our current kids are beginner dancers with no prior knowledge of Folklorico. However, they are ready to take things to the next level and increase their knowledge in traditional Mexican dances. Through participation in the upcoming Folklorico competitions, our students will be developing team work skills as well as improving technical dance skills.
My Project
The donations will be used to buy Folklorico Dresses for competition. With these costumes, our students will have the opportunity to perform for their parents, teachers, classmates, and community.
Your generous donation to help purchase our students' Folklorico dresses will provide endless opportunities for our students to perform, compete, promote cultural awareness and celebrate their cultural roots.
Mexican Folklorico has different regions and each region has its own typical dresses. Therefore, your donation will be greatly appreciated by our group and will be a permanent asset to the group, school, and community for years to come. Thank you for your generosity.
