Small group instruction and center time is an essential part of the school day. It is a time where students can further practice skills that are being taught throughout the school year. It also allows students to have the opportunity to work with other students, use hands-on manipulative materials and play educational games with their peers. In addition, centers allow students to have independence and to demonstrate responsibility by using materials correctly, putting things away carefully and cleaning up after themselves which aids in fostering their independence even more.
I truly feel that when students have fun while learning, they will not only enjoy the activity but are more likely to remember the skills they are learning.
My hope with these materials is to help make my classroom center area more comfortable, appealing and fun. My students will have differential seating, hands on activities and fun games to play independently or with their peers.
