Making Assistive Technology Convienient

My students need 3 iPads to have easy access to their assistive technology accommodations. My students use speech to text and text to speech classroom accommodations to access daily curriculum.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are awesome. This school year been one full of many accomplishments but also includes some destruction from Hurricane Harvey causing damage to Houston. Due to Hurricane Harvey, my students missed more than 2 weeks of instruction. My students are from a Title 1 school in Houston, Texas where 95% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch.

On top of the daily struggles my students face outside of school, all of my students meet the eligibility as a student with special needs.

I work with students from grades Kindergarten to Fourth grade who receive special education services in the general education setting. My students are multiple grade levels below their peers and struggle in the classroom.

My Project

My students will use iPads to access general currirculum. My students use a text to speech application called Snap and Read. My students are able to use the iPad at their desk and use the snap and read application to snap a picture of their assignment, and then the application will read the assignment to the students.

This allows the students to sit at their desk and recieve all of their accomodations.

The easy access and availability of the iPads for my students will allow them the opportunity to complete their assignments just like the rest of their students. My students will benefit from the use of these iPads.
