My students in San Francisco are taking various levels of math and are elected leaders of student government for our high school. They are hard working students in an urban public school. Over 50% of my students are on free and reduced lunch programs and many are immigrants from Asia and Latin America. My math students are creative and diligent. The school leaders I work with are passionate and spirited.
It is inspiring to see their work and hear their voices.
My Project
Incorporating student voice in a mathematics class is very challenging. Providing students an opportunity to share their thinking and their work is an equally logistical challenge. The products I am requesting will help address both these challenges. By installing this wireless screen sharing device, my students can present directly on the screen using multiple sources. They would not be limited to one platform like Apple or Android.
Students will have the freedom to present their work from any device, lifting their voice in the room exponentially.
Airtame 2 and the power adaptor will make presentations in my room a central part of my student's experience.
This will also be helpful to the school leaders with whom I work. They will be able to conduct class meetings in a professional manner and apply 21st century tools to their discussions.
These requested products will increase communication amongst my students and help them share their own ways of learning and understanding.
