This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A teacher must keep their students actively engaged. What kept our attention in the 80's no longer works. Teachers are challenged to compete with so many gadgets that students have access to at home. Thank goodness, the Kinect can now be used in schools to teach standards based concepts and fitness.

My students face so many challenges.

With so many issues, it is my mission as their educator to take them away and rescue them from their pressing worries through the joys of meaningful lessons and activities. Our Title I school is extremely unique, with 100% of the students receiving free or reduced lunch. There is only one other school with the same percentage in the state of South Carolina. We don't take this rank as an excuse to have a pity party, but rather as a means of motivation. We strive to plant seeds of hope and reassure the students that education is the key that unlocks the doors of opportunity and future success. This success is first achieved with the ability to read and read well.

My Project

With the purchase of a Kinect gaming system, students will be motivated beyond belief. This product will allow me to keep them actively engaged in lessons taught via the Kinect, it will serve as a tool to get students up and moving during inclement weather, when recess is normally canceled, and lastly it will promote team building, when students are working together to achieve a common goal. Students will be able to stay active while learning how to maintain a healthy lifestyle, work cooperatively, and maintain positive behavior. This Kinect will benefit my auditory, kinesthetic, and visual learners.
