This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Every day, my students get to come into their classroom home and experience something that some of them never get to fully feel; LOVE. My students take time to greet me and tell me about their life, and they know I truly care. We as a class talk about what is happening in their life and what is happening in the area where they live. My students know how to challenge the, "status quo" by taking things to another level in their education and home life.
As the NEW YEAR starts, I want to give my students the words of life that they need while in my class and out in the real world.
Everyday my students are challenged in a negative way because of their skin color/economic status. My students need to be able to push through these words and hear the words that they are loved. A lot of my kids have, "broken homes," and some of the tasks that we just think of they have never experienced.
My Project
As we start the new year, we are faced with the challenge of having to clean our own classrooms. My students have taken ownership of our class and have all split up the duties in keeping our room sparkly clean. However, this can come at a huge cost for me (the teacher) and so we have put together a little list to help us keep our room lookin' great over the next 5 months.
Walking into a room with a wonderful smell can sure start your day off on a high.
The Swifter Jet is going to be used 2 times a week to make sure our floors are in perfect shape. With that said, I have gather a lot of supplies that need to be separated and stored for holidays/parties and receiving the Multi-purpose Storage Bin will help with that. Having the new Task Lamp in our reading area will help give us more light, when we want to turn off the big power lights above us. If you are new to our page, we were blessed with a Cricut and have been working on different items, the Sports Vinyl will allow us to make shirts for Black History month and a new idea our teacher has for the wall. Headphones for the classroom are something we need. The ones that we got in the beginning of the year are already broken (due to cheap material) and we use these everyday for learning.
It is sad that we have to clean our own classroom, but I am so proud of my students for taking ownership in wanting to help keep our little classroom in tip top shape. Having the vacuum will help keep germs and any messes off our new reading center.
