In my class I have 3 desktop computers that freeze all the time. In a classroom of 20 students, that ratio does not work. There is a new EDU website that is through hosted renaissance that allows students to read and play a game. When my lower students struggle with reading they can use the kindle to give them a learning site on their level. In my classroom we have GUIDED READING CENTERS, and the kindles will allow me to have a technology area for a change that works in the 21st century. Guided reading is almost a hour long in our schedule and this project will give us another learning center to help my students. Literacy is a HUGE part of teaching and I have over half my students that are below reading level. This project lets my students have a chance to increase there reading level through phonics, phonemic awareness, and literacy 123 level programs. The printer will let me bring color material to life in my classroom. Right now we have to personally pay for prints or wait 8-12 business days to have a 3rd party print out things. This project allows me to give students a fun modern day learning atmosphere in the St. Louis area.
