My Students

I have 28 4th grade students in my class. My elementary school serves around 700 students in grades PreK-5th in a more rural area of Arkansas. Approximately 45% of the students in my school are eligible for free and reduced lunch.

The economic and cultural diversity at my elementary school is rich.

Students are not only economically diverse, but they are also culturally diverse. I am excited to see the growth of my students independence. The sky is the limit!

My Project

A makerspace is a collaborative work space inside our classrooms. Our students come in each day with big ideas and these materials will help them show what they know creatively.

We hope to encourage our students to make, learn, explore and share projects that use high tech or no tech tools.

Students will work individually or in groups on a project involving economic concepts such as solving real world problems and helping the community. Having these materials readily accessible in the classroom will help alleviate reluctance in completing projects.

We hand picked these materials including cardstock, different types of adhesive, pipe cleaners, rubber bands, etc. based on the suggestions from the students for their project needs.
