This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a small rural middle school in the southern U.S. Our school serves students in grades 6 - 8 in the areas of stem, visual art, dance, music, and drama.
My students are talented, ambitious, and caring.
They are fearless when it comes to technology and, as children of the 21st century, they need to be prepared to use a variety of tools to engage their world.
We would like to purchase a 3-D printer for our school's Makerspace to encourage student exploration.
My Project
I would like to design a collaborative work space inside our school library. This space, "Makerspace", will be a place for students and staff to learn and explore.
Having a 3-D printer will give students the ability to create and learn new skills through trail and error.
It will help to promote innovative thinking by challenging our students to develop a concept, create a prototype, and build their project. Students will begin to think "outside the box" and it will help boost higher level thinking.
Students will begin to see themselves as inventors, builders, and creators. With a 3-D printer, students will be able to bring their creations to life.
