Our school is nestled in the countryside of Wade, North Carolina. We are outside of the military base and have many military families at our school which adds to the cultural diversity and uniqueness of our school population.
We are a small rural Title I school outside of the military base, Fort Bragg, in which many students are dependent on free and reduced-price lunch and breakfast here at school.
Our school is more of a family and has a strong community feeling of love and support and inclusion. We incorporate many different learning strategies, group and collaborative work, and independent studies at our school. We have begun a “steam” lab at our school and are working to develop their problem-solving skills and collaborative work skills through the design process. They really are an incredible group of kids who are excited to learn and push themselves daily.
My Project
In my class, we embrace the growth mindset, where we learn from mistakes and know that everyone can create, design and build! My students love to create and design and with this project they will have more materials to do just that!
One man's trash is another man's treasure, and my students are learning just that through repurposing things like cardboard, egg cartons, and paper towel rolls with this project you will help them add that extra pizazz and artist touch to their creations!
Luckily, those things don't cost a thing, but we need to replenish our consumable supplies! Things like quality Sharpie markers and pens will allow them to design and decorate their projects. Conductive paint will allow them to connect their projects to their computer programming and allow their projects to come alive with robotics.
I also want them to see that learning and education is not contained within the four walls of a classroom. As we continue to build and create together through STEM challenges, these materials will be used to help inspire, create and learn!
