Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work in an inner city school where the majority of students are bi-lingual with English as their second language. The grades I work with vary from kindergarten through grade 5. Before reading any new material I peruse words that I know the student may struggle to understand and I go over the meaning and show them pictures. I do not have a colored printer to use so quite often the pictures are in black and white.

Having a color printer would really be helpful for the students to picture and comprehend the concepts of what is being taught.

I also send books home for students to read and practice fluency but they are also in black and white. I feel these students deserve more.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
