Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are incredibly creative and love to tell stories. Its all they do, but they lack the proper professional tools to do it through a visual medium. Our high school is composed of passionate and motivated students who often meet to shoot, and edit short films, documentaries, and video projects. While we have access to a professional mirrorless camera, our productions are often limited by a lack of stabilizing equipment and real-time monitoring capabilities.

A tripod will provide critical stabilization, enabling smoother camera movement, more dynamic framing, and more professional-looking visuals.

A camera monitor will allow students to see their work live while filming, which is particularly important for accurate composition, focus, and lighting — areas where our young filmmakers are striving to improve.

Access to this equipment will not only raise the production value of our work but also give students hands-on experience with tools used in the film industry, helping them build portfolios for college and future creative opportunities.

With this equipment, our students will gain valuable experience in cinematic technique, develop more polished film projects, and have the confidence to experiment and innovate. We anticipate an increase in student engagement, skill-building, and successful participation in future film events. Within the next few short years, our school will open our brand new Visual and Performing Arts building, so we'd like to begin building our school's reputation in this field with some amazing film work from our student population.

We believe that storytelling through film is a powerful educational tool that helps students express themselves, connect with others, and develop valuable 21st-century skills. With your support, we can take our student filmmakers’ creativity to the next level.
