My Students

My students are brilliant and they deserve basic educational resources. I serve 188 amazing, 9th to 12th-grade students. Approximately 24% of our students are African American, 32% are Asian, 36% are Hispanic, and the remaining 8% are made up of Filipino, White, and Pacific Islanders. Because we are a full Title I school, a vast majority of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches. Our students may lack the material privileges that other American children are fortunate to have, but they certainly make up for it with talent, fortitude, and sheer intelligence.

My students' parents want the best for their children, but due to financial constraints, they can barely provide the most basic of necessities.

Technology is sorely lacking in their homes. Thus, the majority of their experiences with technology are at school.

My Project

This project involves a computer graphics card that will be used to build our computer in our computer science class. We already have other important components such as motherboard, hard, drive, cases, and RAM for our computer build previously donated. The graphic card will be the final piece of our computer build puzzle. These graphics cards will help power apps such as Adobe, Autodesk, Final Cut Pro, etc...

Students will work together building this computer, they will learn that it's much cheaper to build your own computer than to purchase one that's already prebuilt.
