After several years in a first and second grade classroom I am now a kindergarten through 5th grade Title I teacher that focuses on teaching reading to the most struggling readers.
Their home lives may not be ideal, but I make sure their classroom life is everything and more that they could have ever imagined. I serve a diverse population of learners. I teach in a Title I school, and 98% of the students receive free/reduced-price lunch. My students struggle in reading, writing and math.
My Project
I am requesting supplies for students to make flash cards of words that they are struggling with. First grade students are expected to know 300 sight words by the end of first grade, but I am working with struggling upper grade students (grades 4 and 5) who still do not know these fundamental words.
I would like to collaborate with students to make flash cards of the words that they have yet to master, so they can take these home and night to practice with their families!
I would like basic supplies, such as: book rings, index cards, and flash card paper to make this happen! These supplies should sustain my Title 1 math and reading classroom for over two years!!
