My students are AMAZING. They came back to school this year with glimmers in their eyes and fires in their bellies excited to learn in person again. Each day is new and interesting. My students love to learn and explore the world around them. As a new teacher in their district, they have welcomed me into their school community and are thrilled to have science in the "science room" again.
In the most diverse school district in the state, my students bring a unique lens to learning.
More than 2/3 of my students are low income and all students receive free lunch and breakfast. Students come from backgrounds including Haiti, Latin America, and Vietnam.
My Project
These Hand2mind STEM bins will be used as a center for students to practice using their engineering skills. Each bin comes with a variety of materials for the students to learn, play, and grow their minds with. Students will work in pairs so they are able to practice their collaboration skills.
Given the right tools, these eager to learn students will grow up to be amazing lifelong learners.
We are lucky enough to have a new grant-funded, project-based, student-led curriculum where even my kindergarteners are using the engineering design process to ask questions and solve real world problems.
