My Students

Students at Wilson Elementary have so much to offer. My goal is to create a relaxing classroom climate, that feels like a second home to these students. They deserve a place to feel safe and loved, always. My goal is to create a cozy reading corner, where they will be motivated to divulge themselves into literacy!

My students love to learn, but struggles at home can make this challenging.

They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day, ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!

Many students in my classroom come in saying they have difficulty completing practice assignments at home because of a lack of supplies and resources. Our school is an inner-city school in Manchester, NH and some come from low-income homes. My goal is that when they enter my classroom, they don't need to think about the struggles of home!

My Project

A visually appealing classroom library is so important. It allows students to get excited about books and choosing their own. The classroom library is also a great place to teach students effective strategies for selecting relevant, interesting, and appropriate reading materials. A good classroom library helps students locate books easily and gives them room to get comfortable.

The most popular spot in my classroom was the library this year.

That is why it is so important to me to focus on this central aspect. I want it to be a corner of the classroom where students can go pick up a good book, read and relax!
