My Students
I teach 1st grade at a wonderful school that is full of great students! We are a Title I school and have 100% of students who are receiving free breakfast and lunch daily. My students come from a background of poverty. How can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the materials that we need in the classroom? With your help, we will be able to get the supplies we need!
We are working daily to try and close the learning gaps and further their education in a fun and hands-on manner.
By using a hands-on learning approach, our students are excited to learn. As an educator, I am always looking for a fun and hands-on approach to learning.
My Project
Our school is in the process of buying a new reading series. However, some of the reading series have books that don't hold the attention of the students. Our school is in need of those quality books to grasp and hold their attention! Reading is so important and we want them to love it.
First grade is where children learn how to read!
To interest them in learning how to read, we need interesting books to reel them in! We have put a list of highly engaging books that go along with activities to make them think and something that they can enjoy again and again.
