Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in a Title I school in South Carolina where our motto is that "Every Student Counts, and Every Moment Matters!" My students come from very diverse backgrounds and all receive 100% free breakfasts and lunches at school. Many come from homes where English is not spoken. Some family members come from countries where they were unable to receive an education.
My students come to school and work very hard each day.
We work to ensure our learning is engaging, effective, and FUN! I also recognize that, as a teacher, my job is to provide more than just academic knowledge to students. I need to teach the WHOLE student and make sure all of their needs are met daily!
My Project
Each May, our school has a big field day event where all of the classes in our school compete against each other in different activity events such as relay races, balloon tosses, parachute activities, etc.
I want my students to decorate t-shirts and headbands to wear for this special event so that we can stand out from our competition and look more united as a class!
This is a super exciting day for our students where we get to sit back and simply have FUN together after working so hard to learn together this school year. Students will use fabric pens and puff paint to decorate their shirt and headbands and will be able to take them home to keep afterwards.
