Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach seventh grade math in a smallish inner city community by the water. Many people are surprised to hear it called an inner city, because of our beautiful location, but it is. Our school is extremely diverse, in many different ways. Because of this our students have the unique opportunity of interacting with and learning with students of many different backgrounds, ethnicities and cultures. I teach three sections of Standard Math 7 and one section of Accelerated Math 7/8.
My students are: full of energy, curious, intelligent, kind, sensitive, caring and fun!
Being a single mother of two children myself, I have limited personal funds to support all the cool projects that these students deserve. I am so excited to have heard about this organization that helps teachers be the best they can be!
My Project
Unfortunately, for many of my students these basic necessities are more like luxuries. Your generosity will allow me to provide some of the comforts that we take for granted to my students, thus giving them what they need to succeed! The air freshners and deodorant will hopefully reduce some of the teasing and name calling that some students experience.
Very often I am shopping, not only my own children for tissues and snacks, etc, but all the students I teach, which is about 100.
This adds up very quickly. Your help is greatly appreciated! Thank you again for your help!
