Ms. Tate from Red Springs NC is requesting musical instruments through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need functioning stands to hold their music. We currently do not have enough for the entire class and the ones we do have are broken and held together with tape.

With large classes, minimal music resources, low socioeconomic climate, teaching band in our Title One district is increasingly difficult. Because of these factors, funding for the art's classrooms is nonexistent. Items such as music or instruments have to be borrowed from others schools and the instruments and music stands owned by the high school are in horrible condition. My students are predominantly Hispanic and African American and seem to take this all in stride.
It doesn't take long for students in my class to become part of the family and like all families, we have our struggles both emotional and financial.
One of the financial struggles results in having few resources, a problem that I hope I can resolve with your help.
My students are amazing, determined, loving balls of crazy energy! I have students who can write music and others that perform on a regular basis outside of the classroom in a variety of ways: marching band, color guard, concert band, pep band, musical theatre, and I even have students that will paint murals based on music. I encourage my students to be well rounded in the arts.
Without functioning music stands my students cannot practice and perform their music to the best of their ability. I have had students try to play while reading music of off chairs and by taping the music to broken stands but this creates posture issues and affects the way they play.
By having NEW music stands I can have my students play with proper technique and form.
Also with functioning stands, I do not have to borrow from the local middle school or other high schools in the county. This makes us less dependant on other schools performance schedules.
My students work so hard to learn with these challenges, I can only imagine what they can do with your assistance!
