My Students

How can teachers make addition interesting to high school students? By letting them interact and be creative with the math.

My students have been trying to memorize addition and subtraction facts for years.

I want to stop trying to get them to memorize and start having them think and work with the problems. With inexpensive handheld camcorders and tablets they can create videos teaching others about addition or counting coins. They will also get a chance to work with technology that will help them be competitive in a global job market.

My Project

We are asking for three touchscreen tablets. This are inexpensive tablets with good reviews. We are also asking for three inexpensive handheld camcorders to record fun, creative video projects. These are devices which employees will need to be fluent in tomorrow's job market.

Math and science programs often get money for technology, but that money is not extended to special education students.

Students in typical classrooms at my school have special clickers, extra graphing calculators and more. The message my students receive is that they aren't worth it. Show them they deserve technology as much as typical students. Thank you.
