My Students
I teach at risk youth that have previously struggled behaviorally and academically in school. I enjoy watching them participate and engage in different activities that they previously would not. I introduce supplemental activities to make it fun and engaging.
My Project
Many of my students struggle academically and behaviorally. They are all special education students with Individualized Education Plans. The Literacy in Early Grades will be used as a supplemental activity when working with students that struggle with learning how to read. The hand2mind kit, the less than/greater than magnet, and the laminated multiplication table will provide a visual and tactile tool that will help with comprehension of the material being taught.
I teach in a self-contained classroom for at risk youth.
Since we live on an island, our students struggle identifying the mainland states and where they are located. Race Across the USA will be a fun game and supplemental activity to help them engage and stay engaged. We lack funding for a science lab, so The Science Teacher Activity a Day will be used as an introduction during science class to get their attention. The stools will be used as a sensory item to help keep them focused.
