My Students

The students that I work with are extra special kids! I work at a low income/high poverty school where students are growing up in homes where some parents are in and out of jail. They come to school hungry every day and yet, they continually succeed. These students overcome more in their everyday life than other students may go through in a lifetime.

These students come to school and their classroom with the feeling of trust and safety.

They know that if they make a mistake or become angry with a teacher, they are forgiven and able to have a new slate each day. School is the safe haven for many of these children and I feel grateful to work at a school that focuses on each child's individuality. Making the classroom a fun environment with a variety of opportunities to learn is what makes teaching worth every minute!

My Project

My students are in serious need of some quality headphones. They use their headphones each and everyday. Our students have already gone through two pairs a piece. They are treating them well but the headphones can't keep up with their energetic first grade bodies.

During these unsure times, we will need to have headphones for students to be able to take their computers home from school to home in case we go virtual at a moments notice.

Our students are fortunate enough that our district has provided a computer for each student, but so far they have no quality headphones. Our Title 1 families may not have the funds available to afford to buy a nice pair of headphones.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
