My Students

My students are kind, creative, and conscientious. They strive to succeed and to participate in the learning happening in their classroom.

Many of the students in my room have learning difficulties and I am looking for the best tools to meet their needs.

We work through a rigorous reading and writing curriculum that is difficult for many students to access. As part of our curriculum, students are in book clubs and writing partnerships. I am hoping to add four iPads to my classroom to give students access to audiobooks and other supports at their fingertips.

As their teacher, my hope is that my students see themselves as integral parts of a global community. Helping students to be a part of a positive and productive classroom community is step one in demonstrating for them how to do so. By giving them supports that allow them to access the curriculum, we are empowering them beyond the classroom.

My Project

All students will be able to access their book club books through the use of an audible reader application on their IPad. Adding two tablets to my classroom will allow for students who are struggling readers to access the same reading content as their peers. By using assisted technology to support their reading growth, they will be able to participate in the learning that centers around analyzing and discussing texts with their peers. IPads will give struggling readers the chance to participate with their peers in higher-level critical thinking discussions they otherwise cannot without having read or heard the text.
