This center has already become a favorite place for my TK students to play outside together. This play encourages exploration, communication, and child-led discovery with their peers, all in the wonderful setting of our large, redwood-tree lined play area.\r\n\r\nI've put sand in it, and have made it an outdoor center in which groups rotate during the week so all children have a chance to play there. Also, it's available at every recess for those who would like additional play. Right now, my class is studying about Life on the Farm, and so I put some plastic farm animals in the sand as well as some measuring cups. The children love to play with the animals, and are practicing vocabulary that they've learned in class in a real-life context, which supports their English language development. \r\n\r\nIn addition, while they play at the table, they're talking and laughing with classmates, learning to share, and building other socialization skills. Academically, they're learning about more/less than, capacity, lighter/heavier, and other science-related skills within a play-based, child-centered context. I love that soon I can switch out the sand for water in this table and create an entirely different type of center for the students, and also that it easily rolls inside each afternoon for safe-keeping.\r\n\r\nOutdoor play is good for all children, but especially imperative for early learners. Research shows that outdoor play helps regulate emotions, builds curiosity, gives children space to develop their motor skills, and contributes to overall well-being. Thank you so much for helping me bring an engaging toy out into our beautiful outdoor setting.\r\n\r\nWe all greatly appreciate your generosity and kindness! These materials have given my students more opportunities to create meaningful projects that show their understanding in a visual and interactive way. One specific classroom project we are currently working on is our end-of-year ELA prologue and epilogue project, where students are writing from a character's perspective and designing a foldable display to show how a story can begin or continue beyond the original text. The new materials have helped students take more pride in their work because they are not only writing, but also publishing and presenting their ideas in a way that feels special and classroom-worthy.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were genuinely excited. Many of them immediately started asking how they would get to use them and what projects we would be making next. It was one of those moments where you could see their curiosity and motivation increase right away. For many students, having access to quality classroom supplies makes the assignment feel more important, and they were eager to make their work neat, creative, and something they could proudly share during Open House.\r\n\r\nThe next step for my students is to finish drafting, revising, and designing their prologue and epilogue foldables. They will use text evidence, character traits, and what they know about story structure to create thoughtful writing that connects to the novel we have been studying. After that, students will prepare their final pieces for display so families and visitors can see the effort, creativity, and growth they have shown in ELA. Your support has helped make this project feel more meaningful and has given my students the chance to see their work as something worth celebrating.","fullyFundedDate":1775280151382,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-learning-to-life-with-color/10167603/","projectTitle":"Bringing Learning to Life with Color","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. L","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2122862"},{"teacherId":8137841,"projectId":9797396,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations to fund this project!
