Help me give my students access to visual art with an LCD classroom projector.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Our school is a diverse public school serving students from very high-need areas. Approximately 25% of our students have a diagnosed disability. Our student body also comes from many different countries and cultural backgrounds and our school works hard to recognize and celebrate our diversity. The vast majority of our students live at or below the poverty line.
This project will provide students with access to visual art in both video and photo formats as well as create a way for students to project their work.
This project will support the artistic expression of 750 students, as I am privileged to get to teach the entire school over the course of the year. Our students are creative, hard-working, and compassionate. They deserve and need access to an LCD projector.
We used to have an LCD projector but then it broke. Since then, students have had limited access to visuals. My lessons typically include videos, photos, and text projected on the class white board. This provides students with multiple options for understanding the content.
If my students have access to an LCD projector, we can explore, critique, and engage with art in dozens of more ways than without one.
With an LCD, we can photograph their work and project their pieces during art critiques. I can show videos of artists work in their studios, how-to demonstrations from across the world, or media on various art movements. Students will also be able to see images of art that they would never get to see without the projector. Lessons will not only be more engaging, they will be able to provide students with access to the subject matter, enriching their long-term learning.
Please help support this project. A projector will impact the learning of over 750 students for years to come. We deeply appreciate any contribution.
