My Students

My students are unique and learn in their own special way and pace. They are like stars, waiting to be ignited by the power of love and learning. Teaching this class of 3rd-5th graders is an adventure which allows me to discover special characteristics about each one of them and teach them accordingly.

Of course, teaching my fabulous students also comes with many challenges.

Some of these are lack of attention, sensitivity, and stimulation. I want to make learning a long lasting experience for them and i want them to feel like they are no different than others, that they can have access to the same things other kids have. I want to help them feel included and loved.

My Project

My students are unique individuals who learn in different ways. Whether it is a video, a kinesthetic activity, or simply playing a game. It is difficult for my students to break routines and be flexible. For that reason, I am leading the way by wanting to incorporate flexible seating into their school day. When I first came into this classroom, there were no flexible seating or personalized learning set ups. I tried my best to make it feel like home for my students but I still feel there is more work to do. Together, we can make this possible!

Flexible seating is key for creating independent learners and simply teach kids that they are in control of their learning.

I feel like this project will benefit all my students and they will feel excited to come in the classroom every day. This will especially benefit my students who need constant movement input to be able to learn and process information. I am hopeful that this project will be funded and we get to make a difference in my students' lives.
