Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a small class of sixteen students. I have the great pleasure of teaching at a dual language school. That means that half of my students are English language learners and the other half are Spanish language learners. They are wonderful students and great fun to be around. Coming into my active fun classroom brightens everyone's day.

I teach English Language Arts and Math.

All of the students bring an enthusiasm to the classroom every day that is incredibly infectious. I am surprised every day by their energy and desire to grow and develop. These fifth graders always have a positive attitude and strive to be the best they can be inside and outside of the classroom. It is a joy every day to work with them.

My fifth grade class works great together as a community and deeply care for one another. Every day they strive to not only better themselves but also help each other better themselves. We have developed a true community. Every day is an adventure in learning that the students look forward to. My fifth graders are excited and ready to learn.

My Project

My fifth graders are in need of some math manipulatives in order to improve their math skills. Math is a very hands on subject. Students improve their skills by working with their hands and using items like the Unifix cubes I have requested to visualize their problems. Combining this with the use of whiteboards allows students to use multiple learning techniques in order to improve their comprehension and retention of content areas. I have also asked for pattern blocks and block designs for my classroom. These items will help students with their problem solving skills which will assist them with other aspects of their math comprehension.

By donating to my class project you will not only improve students mathematical abilities but also their skills in other subjects also.

Students will be able to develop the needed skills to be successful in math as well as school in general. Math is an essential part of education which connects to all other subjects.
