My students want to improve their reading skills drastically. In order to do so, they need Phonics Phones as well as Reading Trackers. While these items may seem small they make a huge impact on students reading and comprehension skills. By using Phonics Phones, students are able to hear themselves as they read aloud to themselves or a partner. This helps students correct themselves when needed. My fifth graders are in need of reading trackers. These strips help students keep track of where they are in their books. They highlight the line they are currently on while also blocking out the line above and below. This assists students in staying on track. By assisting students with staying on track with their reading, they will also improve their comprehension skills. I am also asking for pocket charts in order to create hands-on activities for the students to participate in. Students learn best by doing therefore having hands-on activities will assist them in cementing the content information I am trying to teach them.
