Students in my kindergarten classroom come to school excited about learning. Many of my students come from low income families, and all the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch. This background can mean that students’ families cannot afford to purchase needed school supplies.
My students deserve to receive the best education possible so that they are able to succeed in school and in life.
These boys and girls have such awesome attitudes, and they try their best every day!
My Project
One of my students' favorite times, during the school day, is center time. Students work in small groups, on various activities covering topics such as math, reading and fine motor skills. I plan to include financial literacy topics during center time. My students need to be introduced to money and finances, in order to begin their paths toward becoming financially literate adults.
I am requesting a small, magnetic board and magnetic coins, for students to use, during math centers, to practice sorting, identifying and counting the value of coins.
I am also requesting math coin puzzles, to use during fine motor centers and various finance related children's books, to use during reading centers. My students need to learn that money doesn't grow on trees and it is important to be wise when making financial choices.
Thank you for taking the time to read my project idea!
